MCCAYSVILLE

Downtown McCaysville

Situated along the Tennessee-Georgia state line, McCaysville is a charming town in Fannin County where you can literally stand in two states at once. The town’s famous Blue Line, painted across the street, marks the exact spot where Georgia meets Tennessee—making it a popular photo-op for visitors and a fun symbol of the community's unique location.

McCaysville is the northern destination for the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which winds its way from Blue Ridge along the Toccoa River before arriving in town. Passengers disembark for a two-hour layover to explore McCaysville’s inviting downtown, full of local character and scenic river views.

The town has become a vibrant hub for visitors thanks to the Riverwalk Shops, a picturesque strip of riverside restaurants, boutiques, and entertainment venues that span both sides of the state line. Whether you’re sipping wine by the water, browsing handmade goods, or enjoying live music, the Riverwalk offers a little something for everyone.

For those who love the outdoors, the Toccoa River provides excellent opportunities for tubing, kayaking, and trout fishing, while nearby Horseshoe Bend Park is a local favorite for family picnics, riverside strolls, and the seasonal Pickin’ in the Park bluegrass music series.

Originally established in 1904 as a copper mining town, McCaysville has evolved into a welcoming mountain destination that honors its heritage while embracing the energy of modern tourism. From its rich history to its small-town hospitality and scenic setting, McCaysville is a unique stop in the North Georgia mountains that visitors return to again and again.
